What to Expect When You’re Renovating

Part 1: The Nesting Phase (Home Protection)

The Goal: Overcoming the fear of "The Mess."

Most renovation anxiety starts at the front door. You worry about your carpets, your master bedroom sheets, and the air your family breathes.

  • The Ekon Standard: We build a "sealed path." From the entrance to the workspace, your home is shielded.
  • The Prep: We’ll ask you to clear the "Path of Travel." Think of it as preparing the hallway for a high-precision team.

Part 2: The Digital Twin (Visualizing the Future)

The Goal: Eliminating "Buyer’s Remorse" before it starts.

Decision fatigue is real. This post explains how the 4K 3D Rendering acts as your "Ultrasound." You get to see the face of your new bathroom before it’s "born," ensuring that every texture and color is exactly what you desired.

Part 3: The Surgery (Demolition & Noise)

The Goal: Normalizing the "Construction Shock."

This is the hardest day for homeowners. The "Peace" is gone, and the house is loud.

  • The Reality: You will hear jackhammers and shop-vacs.
  • The Peace of Mind: Every vibration is a step toward a healthy foundation. We aren't just tearing down; we are "clearing the slate" for engineering excellence.

Part 4: Structural Recovery (The Hidden Truth)

The Goal: Preparing for "The Discovery" (Mold & Rot).

On Facebook, the #1 fear is: "What if they find mold?" * The Ekon Approach: We don't find "problems"; we find "opportunities." We assume East Texas humidity and soil shifting has done its work.

  • The Recovery: We document the mold remediation and structural replacement on Company Cam so you know your home’s "bones" are finally healthy.

Part 5: The Bionic Bathroom (The Guts & Framing)

The Goal: Understanding the "Invisible Engineering."

This is the phase you’ll never see again once the walls go up. We show you why we replace the "guts"—the P-traps, the valves, and the structural blocking. This is where we ensure your grab bars are rock-solid and your plumbing is leak-proof for years to come.

Part 6: The Reveal (Onyx & Aesthetics)

The Goal: Seeing the "Sparkle" return.

The "Delivery" is almost complete. This post focuses on the precision of the Onyx Collection and the custom glass. We explain the learning curve of new fixtures and why the "Clean Exit" is our signature move.

Part 7: The Driver’s Manual (The Handover)

The Goal: Empowerment and Long-Term Care.

Your project doesn't end when we leave. Your Project Folder provides your "How to Care for your Bathroom Manual."

  • The Walkthrough: We teach you how to use your new bidet, how to adjust your thermostatic valves, and how to maintain that grout-free shine.

Can you turn a 1980s bathtub into a luxury Art Deco shower? Yes. By combining custom architectural arches, high-flow plumbing for 13 water outlets, and specialized "aging-in-place" safety features, you can transform a dated bathroom into a spa-like "rainforest" sanctuary that increases home value and personal comfort. The Vision: More Than Just a Bathroom When I first met Griff Hubbard through the Rotary Club of Longview, I knew his project would be special. Griff is a man of history, particularly railroad history, and his home reflects that soul. He didn't just want a new shower; he wanted the "crowning achievement" of his home...a space that felt like an Art Deco rainforest. To truly understand Griff’s vision, I did something most contractors don't: I listened to his railroad history podcasts. This allowed us to build a design that wasn't just functional, but deeply personal. Engineering the "Rainforest" Experience The centerpiece of this transformation is the "Rainforest" shower system. To achieve this level of luxury, we had to overcome significant technical hurdles: 13 Water Outlets: We installed a massive array of body sprayers and the largest rain head Ekon Bath has ever commissioned. High-Volume Plumbing: Most older homes aren't built for this much water. We coordinated with specialists to ensure the water pressure and hot water capacity could handle the "rainforest" flow. Custom Art Deco Hardware: When standard handles didn't fit the 1920s aesthetic, we sourced custom hardware and even had a machine shop create a bespoke Art Deco drain cover. Design Details: Where History Meets Luxury Griff’s bathroom is a masterclass in Art Deco design . We replaced the standard square shower entry with a striking architectural archway . This creates a sense of "arriving" at a destination rather than just stepping into a shower. We also prioritized "Aging in Space"... a core focus at Ekon Bath. While the shower looks like a high-end spa, it secretly includes reinforced support behind the walls for future safety features, ensuring Griff can enjoy this sanctuary for years to come! The Ekon "Red Carpet" Experience At Ekon Bath, we believe the process should be as beautiful as the result. For Griff, that meant: Daily Cleanliness: We vacuumed and dusted every single afternoon so Griff could live comfortably during the renovation. Above and Beyond: To finish the job, we didn't just clean the bathroom; we power-washed his back patio to leave his entire home better than we found it.
